Laminate Wood Flooring
Laminate flooring is a multi-layer synthetic flooring product that is fused together. It is constructed by having an inner core of melamine resin and fibre board materials with a photographic layer under a clear protective layer.
Laminate flooring has grown in popularity over the last decade to its cheap cost, durable, easy to maintain and also the hygienic factor.
It has its disadvantages that each wood has, but laminate’s is that it is made of plastic so is less durable than more conventional flooring and would not be advise for commercial use.
Maintenance of Laminate flooring
Maintenance of laminate flooring is important to maintain its up keep and prolong its life. The areas we would advise upon are the importance of keeping the laminate clean from dust, dirt and anything that is hard so the surface doesn’t overcome to scratches in areas that are in constant contact with. Other areas is to keep the laminate flooring dry as this can cause the planks to swell, warp, etc.. even though some floors are made with water-resistant coatings.
Best laminate floor brands?
The three that we mostly use are Quick Step, Tarkett and Pergo. These brands are the best due to the quality and they have a excellent brand reputation of producing quality flooring. To choice the best out of the three it would have to be the Quick Step due to the overall look, with the 8mm or thicker laminate as our choice. The reason for this is down to it being a more dense sound while walking on it.
